Slice of Life 21: Spring Comes to the Pennsylvania Writing and Literature Project

Today actually felt like spring, even though slush still lingers from yesterday’s snow. It wasn’t just the warmer temperature and intermittent sunshine. Today was PAWLP’s Saturday Seminar, and spring was in the air at the West Chester Graduate Center. There was the fun of reconnecting with friends and colleagues, the anticipation of new learning and growth, and the energy of throwing open the windows to let in fresh ideas. Mary Buckelew, the director of the program, welcomed everyone, and Linda Kershner and Theresa Moslak introduced the keynote speakers, Lynne Dorfman and Diane Dougherty, who presented an interactive session based on their book Grammar Matters. This was followed by a choice of related breakout sessions, facilitated by Lynne and Diane, Bruce Perlman, and Linda Kershner. We ended with a drawing of raffle tickets with professional books donated by Reading Matters as prizes. Seeds were planted throughout the day. With nourishment from caring teachers, much learning will flower this spring!
